Henchman is an add-in that helps you draft contracts faster by retrieving and analysing your previously written clauses from your contract repository and presenting these clauses to you within your trusted Microsoft Word environment.
Henchman automatically recognises and categorises your contracts and clauses to make it easier for you to search for those clauses.
It takes less than 2 minutes to get you started. Absolutely no manual tagging or setup is required from your end. Henchman does this for you. Depending on the amount of contracts stored in your database, syncing in the back-end might take from 10 minutes up to 10 hours.
Our algorithm only processes your contracts to categorise your clauses and present them to you within Microsoft Word. Henchman has no rights to edit, delete or perform any other action on your contracts and cloud data.
Henchman services are hosted on Amazon Cloud Platform (AWS) in EU-only zones (Dublin, Irland).
Your contract data is only stored after it’s been ‘shredded’. This means that once your contract data goes through Henchman, it will be impossible to reconstruct this data into a valid contract again.
Other organisations will definitely not be able to see any of your organisation’s contracts. All your contract data is separated by a virtual wall from other Henchman customers.
Henchman stores its customers' data. We delete all data and details of organisations that choose to stop working with Henchman.
Of course you can. The best lawyers aren’t necessarily the most tidy ones ;)
Henchman does not require any specific folder structure or manual tagging and sorting of clauses. Henchman is trained to recognise any contract within the folders it is allowed to access.
Our encrypted database instances use the industry standard AES-256 encryption algorithm to encrypt your data on the server that hosts it. Additionally, our team of industry experts apply the principle of least privilege (PoLP) in which a user is given the minimum levels of access – or permissions – needed to perform his/her job functions.
We are fully GDPR compliant.

No, this is not possible. You need to be connected to a WiFi network in order for Henchman to work.
Preferably you use your professional email address to create your Henchman account.
You use the email address and password you used to create your Henchman account.
First double-check if you’ve used the right account and password. If it’s still not working, reach out to Wouter Van Respaille, CTO at Henchman. He’s done this before and is able to help. You can email him at wouter@henchman.io.
You can reset your password here.
Check with which account you are logged in to Microsoft Word. You might have to log in to your other Microsoft account. If you still need help, you can always reach out to our CTO Wouter Van Respaille at wouter@henchman.io, he will happily help you figure out what’s wrong.
It might well be that your cloud environment doesn’t allow you to connect with third-party apps. If you’re not an admin you should ask an admin to set this up.
If you however are an admin and can’t make it work, reach out to Wouter Van Respaille, CTO at Henchman. You can email him at wouter@henchman.io.
Yes, you can connect multiple databases to your Henchman account. This means that you could create a Henchman account with your personal email address for example but connect it with your firm's cloud storage space. All you need to do is log in to your firm’s database and allow Henchman to connect. Please note that you can only connect with a certain database if this database allows users to connect with a third-party application.

Yes, if you add a new user, i.e. colleague, they enjoy the ability to connect one or more of their databases or to manually upload specific contracts or folders.
Yes. When you invite users and they upload their contracts or connect a database, you will also get clause suggestions out of their contract database. Note: we will make it an option in the short term to control visibility.
The administrator within your organisation has the ability to invite more of your colleagues within their admin environment. As an administrator, you click on the icon in the top right corner of your admin panel in order to add additional users.
You can definitely use Henchman by yourself. Simply keep in mind that Henchman will then only present you clauses out of your personal contract database. The more contracts you connect to Henchman the more clause suggestions you'll get.
That is correct, the online version of Microsoft Word doesn’t support our drag & drop functionality. If you are working with the online version you can copy and paste clauses or definitions into your search bar.
At this point, it isn’t possible to delete clauses you don’t like straight from the add-in.
If you’ve searched everywhere for a clause but you can’t seem to find it, there’s a good chance that the contract, out of which this clause came, was removed from your or your colleague’s database.
Please forward your question to support@henchman.io and we will get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.
